The hilly area around Dabeikeng in Longtan District ranges in elevation from about 300 to 400 meters. It is frequently shrouded in mist at dawn and dusk, providing moisture that nourishes tea plants and helps them grow richly flavored leaves. Here, in one of Taiwan’s oldest Hakka tea-growing areas, the tea farmers here have moved in recent years toward friendly farming and organic farming so as to create a favorable habitat for the small green leafhopper that adds a rich honey flavor to Oriental Beauty tea. This tea is popular for its unique flavor and color. The Council of Agriculture announced the designation of the Dabeikeng Leisure Agriculture Area in May of 2018. The area is characterized by rolling hills, green ponds, and slopes filled with verdant tea plantations, as well as extensive vistas and pure air. This is truly a land of “fine mountains, fine waters, fine tea, and fine Hakka culture,” along with the “three slows”- slow living, slow dining, and slow travel. Visit Dabeikeng and you can experience the aroma of Oriental Beauty tea, the low-carbon lifestyle, and the lohas delights of Longtan; take a leisurely walk along the “tea aroma” pathways, and you can also enjoy the tranquil, rustic, natural, and slow-paced atmosphere of Dabeikeng. We welcome you to come and visit the beautiful tea-covered hillsides of Dabeikeng!
